We believe every funeral should be fitting and meaningful. We will present you with options and never pressure you into anything. The funeral will be arranged at a pace you are comfortable with, and tailored to your cultural, religious, or personal preferences. Choice is one of our key promises – you remain in control, and we facilitate what is right for you at a price you’re comfortable with.

You will find no hidden fees or surprises; just straightforward, fair service.
Little things make a big difference. Our funeral directors and arrangers are meticulous in planning and carrying out each funeral. We double check arrangements, coordinate precisely with churches, crematoria, florists, doctors, and celebrants, and we confirm every request you’ve made – no matter how small. Want a particular song played at a certain moment? Need wheelchair access for an elderly guest? Wish to display personal mementos at the service? Consider it done. We take pride in going “above and beyond” to ensure everything is just right. Our team shares a commitment to excellence, and it shows in the gratitude we receive from families afterwards.
Our Team – Caring Professionals from the Local Community
About us
One of our greatest assets at Lines Bannister is our team. We are a close knit group of funeral professionals – some of us have lived in Berkshire all our lives, others have decades of experience serving families across the region. We come from diverse backgrounds, but we all share a calling to help people during times of loss.
Our Funeral Director leads by example in delivering compassionate service and has obtained professional qualifications from the NAFD and BIFD (British Institute of Funeral Directors). All our arrangers and assistants undergo continuous training not just in the practical skills of funeral arranging and mortuary care, but also in grief support and customer care. We stay up-to-date with industry best practices and attend regular courses. But beyond certificates on the wall, it’s the human qualities of our staff that families remember. You might meet one of our arrangers, who is a long-time Ascot resident involved in local charities, or our funeral service operative who used to be a nurse and brings incredible kindness to her role. Each member of the Lines Bannister team is chosen for their empathy, reliability, and sincerity.
When the day of the funeral comes, you will notice our team’s professionalism in their immaculate attire and respectful conduct. Our pallbearers and chauffeurs are courteous and attentive, and our Funeral Director on the day will ensure everything runs smoothly, directing proceedings with a calm presence. We work together seamlessly, like a family – and in fact, many of our staff have been with us for years, truly making us a family unit. We are also backed by additional colleagues in the wider Southern Co-op Funeralcare network, which means we have extra support and resources if needed (for example, specialist vehicles or cover staff in case of illness), guaranteeing that we will never let a family down.
Our Facilities – A Peaceful Space
About us
We have designed our Ascot funeral home to be a welcoming, peaceful environment. When you visit our High Street premises, you’ll find a comfortable arrangement lounge where we can sit and chat privately. We’ve decorated in a homely style – soft furnishings, gentle lighting, and of course, the kettle is always on. We also have a private Reflection Room on-site. This is a tranquil viewing chapel where you may spend time with your loved one in quiet reflection. It’s set apart from the main areas, ensuring privacy, and we can personalize it with music or items you bring to make it feel more familiar during visits.
For your convenience, we have parking available (our own small car park and on-street parking nearby). Our funeral home is wheelchair-accessible, and if you have difficulty visiting us, we’re happy to come to you. We often make home visits to discuss arrangements if that’s easier for families – sometimes being in your own living room can make such conversations more comfortable, and we completely understand that.
Because we operate a truly 24/7 service, our facilities are staffed or on-call round the clock. Even outside normal office hours, if you need to see your loved one or need our assistance urgently, we can arrange to open for you. We know that grief doesn’t follow a 9 to 5 schedule, so neither do we.
Serving Ascot and Our Community
Ascot isn’t just where we work – it’s our home. Being embedded in the community is very important to Lines Bannister. We see our role as not only serving families at times of loss, but also being a positive presence year-round.
We actively participate in local initiatives. Our team supports and volunteers with several local causes – from sponsoring the village cricket club’s charity events to helping out at community fetes. We focus on projects that create greener, safer, healthier, and more inclusive neighbourhoods, reflecting the ethos of our co-operative heritage. For example, we have organized free CPR training sessions for residents (and installed community defibrillators in partnership with health groups), we hold periodic fundraising drives for local hospices and care homes, and we host an annual remembrance service at Christmas where anyone who has lost a loved one can come to light a candle and reflect, regardless of whether we conducted the funeral or not.
We are also conscious of our environmental responsibility (as you might have read in our Green Funeral options). In our daily operations, we strive to reduce our footprint: all our electricity comes from renewable sources under a green energy contract, we’ve installed smart meters to monitor and improve energy efficiency, and we even have a recycling scheme for floral tributes when appropriate. We choose suppliers who align with sustainability – for instance, many of our coffins are made from FSC-certified timber or natural materials that ensure responsible forestry. Protecting the environment is an important part of who we are, both as funeral professionals and as neighbours in this community who want to leave a better world for the next generation.
Because we’ve served Ascot and Berkshire families for so long, we have excellent relationships with local clergy of all denominations, the managers of venues like Ascot Racecourse (for unique celebration events) and hotels that often host wakes, printers, florists, and caterers. This local network means we can easily coordinate special requests that involve other community services. Need recommendations for a venue for a reception? Independent but Backed by Tradition
Lines Bannister Funeral Directors carries forward a legacy of care. Our name is well-known in Ascot; many remember when we first opened our doors (some decades ago) as a small family-run undertaker’s. Over the years, we have grown and also integrated into the wider co-operative movement, trading under the trusted Co-operative Funeralcare banner. We cherish this independent identity because it allows us to give very personal service, but we also draw on over a century of co-op funeral tradition which prioritises people over profit and service over sales.
We like to think that when you choose us, you’re getting the heart of a local business with the reliability of a nationally respected one. We maintain our premises and vehicles to top standards, invest in staff development, and follow rigorous quality controls – all of which are benefits of being part of a larger organisation – yet our focus remains local. We don’t answer to shareholders; we answer to you, the families we serve, and to our own conscience as funeral professionals.
